What I learnt from today is that Liverpool is not a pool.
Confused?
I shall explain.
So basically me and Chris were just hanging about in camden as we do, you know, chatting about stuff and drinking tea.
Wasn't really sure where this night was going. We ended up at the black heart pub. Just to take a piss. In the toilets I heard music coming from the upstairs.
'Hmmm sounds like keebo' I thought to myself as urine gushed from my penis.
I washed my hands and went upstairs. Low and behold it was keebo! ... 'thank you allah' I cried.
KEEBO
I saw Keebo @ lock tavern a while back. Keebo are one of those bands where you think OMG what the hell is going on here. Its just totally awesome.
5 girls. Playing instruments and ALL singing. Making beautiful noise. REALLY beautiful noise. Im convinced they are fairies who have come from the forest in order to save lost souls in the big bad city.
Seriously please check them out. I was confused at one point cos I couldnt work out whether the singer was standing or kneeling. Basically she's just so tiny and cute. I want to either a) put her in my pocket or b) have her for breakfast.
I bought there tape which includes there single native american. Its really cool. Initially when I put in the tape. the tape player jammed and stopped working and I was all like 'thanks ALOT keebo'
But now its fine and its sounds really great.

SEAWITCHES
Sea witches were next on.
They were cool. 3 pretty girls and one pretty boy from liverpool. Just plain awesome music. Off key eerie vocals from lead singer.
The musics kind of retro vintage 80s and i thought sounded a bit like the lost druggy phaze of the cure. Post punk? I guess.
Nice one seawitches. Thanks for showing me that liverpool is more than just Steven Gerrard and errr.. Jaime Carragher.

Finally the headline act!
BIRD
Also from the Liverpool. These guys were really impressive. Like kind of grungy dark epic beautiful stuff. Only caught the last two tunes but they impressed me muchos. Also on chatting to the whole liverpool gang, promoters, performers i found them to be very amicable chaps.

On seeing this gig I realise that the music scene is like flowers. Flowers are first seeds which have to get all there stuff together like nutrients sunlight etc in order to bloom. The variety of flowers come from cross pollinating and the mixing of different flowers in order to create new hybrids.
Its the same with music. These people have to get there stuff together learn how to sing, collaborate, experiment etc. Try different instruments. Make time to create there music. All these bands were 3 very beautiful and unique flowers (or fruit, it works with that too) that have bloomed (or come into fruition?) out of this messy world.

VIVA SKA PUNK REVOLUTION!
ALT
SKA SUMMER FEST
Okay
so basically I’m like thinking about doing a review cos my mate Sarah wanted me
to do one so here it is.
I
turned up at alt ska in a fragile state because I had an argument with my boss
at work and I was tired and stuff.
The
first band I saw was Detached.
Detached
are a bunch of Irish scallywags.
They make really fun ska punk music. Basically imagine what would happen if goldie looking chain
had an orgy with bob Marley and the sex pistols were masterbating in the
corner. That’s pretty much exactly
what it sounded like.
I
loved it … it picked me up. Props
to the brass section. Saxphone
dude was totally vibsing it (Happy Birthday btw) He was just bouncing around
looking like a proper ska dude.
You
could just tell these guys were all mates and had some fun sipping ciders in
the forest and hanging off trees.
Props to mr dreadlock trumpet guy who was basically doing some kind
crazy wrist shake just before all the sick drops.
Yeah
good stuff guys. Catchy tunes,
messy, sloppy, tight, fun good times lads anthems.
wow
yeah great video. My favourite of
video where you just know these guys are living it.
Next
on was Riskee and the Ridicule…
When
they came on I’d fallen asleep on one of the chairs at the back whilst reading
my book ‘why kindness is good for you’ which kind of fit with the night cos
everyone I met was so bloody kind.
Anyways they brought me out of my coma sleep. At first I was like this is a bit rowdy sounding and then
sort of starting getting into the stuff they were playing cos the music was
kind of clever interesting unique kinda thing.
Then
I checked them out for real and the front man was just having it! Jumping around with all his tattoos and
stuff. He just looked the
part. The bassist had a cool fro
and the little Spanish guitarist reminded me of that dude from napoleon
dynamite PEDRO. In fact I think he
actually was pedro. It was funny
cos one time he just hopped into the two man mosh pit and his lead fell
out. Seriously be careful
pedro.
Anyways
great band I reckon. Fanbase
consisted of two fat dudes kicking a girl. I was chatting to the singer later and he was all friendly
and stuff and we were doing hi fives and grinning.
Check
out there video its made in a mental asylum which the singers mum used to work
at. And if you watch closely in
the vid all the singers mates are just straight up swearing at him. That’s just naughty.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHqkdlXUVlQ
here it is. Cool video. Singer is scary as fuck. Just such a
character. Good front man. Catchy
song ‘jack of all traids, master of none’ yeah wicked.
Then
there was animal.
When
these guys came up on stage I could of sworn Id seen them before. Then I realised I’d watched there video
on youtube before I came to the night.
These guys were just the most silly thing ever. Which was why it was so fucking
awesome. Crazy ass dubstep wobbles
with EPIC drops. The electronic
man was funny. He had an asparagus
coming from his head. Or was that
hair? I dunno. Anyway his beats
were cool and he was heading banging all the way through. It kind of looked abit like he was
riding a camel through the desert.
Funky samples too. The lead
singer was great. I particularly
loved the song where he was just screaming FIRE. He said it a thousand times and it never got boring it just
got more nuts. Kind of like an
actual fire. Like a fucking a bush
fire in oz. The crowd was loving
it. Especially this girl I was
checkin out she was just like grinning and sipping her pint like ‘yeah, this is
the fakin shit’. The live drums
was great cos otherwise I tend to find all this electro stuff abit boring so
props to the drummer!
Not
sure if this was actuall video but
Next
band I missed cos I had to get some space after those crazy dubstep
monkeys. I went to cyberdog to
meet my friend marina. It was
great.
So
heres a review of there video I found on youporn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEVEkzEQ0jc
Id
say it sounds a bit like fred durst milking a cow.
or
Nu
tractor?
But
yeah seriously nice one guys good song.
Speedy ass rapping skills too x
Ghouls!
Yes
loving Ghouls. I saw them a month ago at this battle
of the bands thing. They lost but
that’s cos the promoters were lame bags.
These guys have got a punch.
The saxophone guy had a great shirt what more can I say. The whole band were tight as a
kite. Great songs. Great harmonies. Great lyrics. Everyone was totally vibsing and so were they. Especially the saxophone guy he was
mental. Maybe he was from that
mental asylum that Riskee recorded his video. I was loving the saxophone connection he was having the
saxophone guy in detached, they were just like winking at each other the whole
set being like
‘yeah
we’re saxophone friends, wanna come back to my house and play saxophone and
just leave this world behind’
er..
so …
yeah
the Ghouls
Very
young too. Very very young. A pedophiles dream ska band.
Nice
lyrics too. That one about London
town is burning down and we’re all going with it… yeah I feel that dudes.
Anyways
you should all go on there website and give them money to supposedly record
there album but I know they’ll probably just spend it on crack. Winehouse, Pete, Ghouls they all love a
bit of crack.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi1H3A6_ElA
LOVE
THIS TUNE SERIOUSLY .. spot on harmonies … sounds a bit like rx bandits maybe? For
those ska sperts out there.
Left
Step Band.
Were
HENCH
They
were just so fucking HENCH.
Particularly
the bassist and the singer.
OMG
Seriously
It
was like watching ‘Worlds strongest man’
There
music was kind of mysterious and psycadelic. I kind of liked it.
It made me feel all trippy and stuff. You know these guys loved taking acid and doing weights A
LOT.
Cool
little DJ sample shit going on in the background.
Yeah!
Hercules
meets linking park meets the doors.
Catchy
tune with views of Leicester square.
